Farm-fresh produce, Gulf seafood, cool cocktails plus the brightest culinary minds in Baton Rouge. That’s the formula that went into making the first annual Guts & Glory Popup Dinner a delicious success. All for a good cause–100% of the proceeds went to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation LA/MS. Store owner Anne is acting president and the organization is near and dear to her heart. She found solace in jumping into volunteer work after her son’s advance Crohn’s disease diagnosis in 2016.Here’s a recap of our Farmstand Supper-themed event highlighting the very best in what’s local and abundant from area fields and waters. It didn’t hurt that our lineup of local culinary leaders rocked out every single course. This is a don’t-miss event. Plan to snag a seat at our second annual Guts & Glory Popup Dinner in the summer of 2018.

Guests were greeted with a cool Ginger Spritzer and a few nibbles.

Jordan Ramirez‘s first course Gulf Seafood Ceviche was out of this world. Big, big thanks to Jordan and Magpie Cafe for donating your time.

Lili Courtney didn’t hesitate when we asked for help with this dinner–she’s always there for us. Her Butterbean Salad with local greens, tomatoes and bacon was a stunner. Catch up with Lili in the Red Stick Spice Company demo kitchen–she teaches a long roster of cooking classes, and they sell out quickly!

Chef Aimee Tortorich is no stranger to special events and popup dinners. She’s co-mastermind with food celebrity Jay Ducote and his highly-anticipated Gov’t Taco restaurant. She never disappoints. Her meatloaf with pureed cauliflower and asparagus was a favorite among the guests. We are thankful for friends like Aimee and Jay–they are true community partners.

Store owner Anne ended the evening with Yard Egg Pavlova with local blackberries and Black & Blue compote. A simple dessert with a throwback story. Most guests had happy plates before Anne’s storytelling was up. It was an all-around successful event for a great cause. We can’t wait for 2018!
