Fermentation is the “it” word right now, but it’s not a trend. It’s a necessity. Consuming more gut-friendly bacteria is important to our health and future. And what better way to get those microbes in your belly than a cocktail? Pour off a little kraut brine and put it to good and delicious use!

12 cups Tomato Juice | |
1-2 cups sauerkraut brine | |
1 cup vodka | |
2 Tbl Hot Sauce | |
2 tsp Sweet Smoked Paprika | |
Lime | |
Celery Salt for garnishing the Rim | |
Celery and/or pickled vegetables for garnish |
1. | Combine the Bloody Mary Mix, 1 cup Sauerkraut Brine, Vodka, Hot Sauce and Smoked Paprika in a large pitcher. Stir to combine. Taste and add more Sauerkraut Brine, if desired. |
2. | Rub the rims of the glasses with lime so that the celery salt adheres. Dredge the rims in Celery Salt. |
3. | Add ice and the Bloody Mary mixture. Garnish with celery or pickled vegetables. |
