Chai tea is a big subject in the shop. The combination of warm spices seems to be a favorite for so many. Masala Chai and Coconut Chai share spiced flavors, they are on the opposite end of the spectrum when it comes to origin, processing method and caffeine. Masala Chai is a black tea blended with traditional chai spices. Coconut Chai is an herbal infusion with a Rooibos base, coconut on those beloved chai spices. Both are delicious. Masala Chai: Steep 1 heaping teaspoon in very hot water-almost at the boil-for 1-3 minutes. Although everyone’s preference is different, we do find ourselves steeping this tea more toward the three minute mark. Masala Chai is an amazing hot sip. We love it with milk and sweetener. Coconut Chai: Steep 1 heaping Tablespoon in very hot water. Herbals don’t have any time or temp rules when it comes to steeping. You can use full rolling boiling water with no concerns. Steep for at least 5 mins. Herbal teas also cold steep really well. In a 4 quart pitcher, pour cold water over 1/3 cup Coconut Chai tea. Steep overnight in the fridge. Enjoy this smooth cold brew with a splash of almond milk. Sublime.
