SHAKEN, NOT STIRRED

James Bond bellying up to the bar. Tom Cruise’s cool moves in Cocktail. Jumping on the bar in Coyote Ugly. The mixologist shaking a cocktail conjures iconic images. Super suave looking? Yes. But that rhythmic shake is also for good reason.

Shaking a beverage – spirits or no – is meant to create a colder beverage and fully incorporate ingredients. Depending on the cocktail, the shake time may be longer depending on if the mixologist is looking to dilute the cocktail a bit, emulsify ingredients or really frost things up.

At SoGo Tea Bar, located inside Red Stick Spice in Mid City Baton Rouge, we shake things up much like mixologists. Our Shaken Teas come out icy cold with your sweetener perfectly distributed. Stop in and our baristas will guide you through choosing a tea with flavor and caffeine in mind. Then watch them rattle ice into the shaker, pour in your tea of choice, a dab sweetener (if that’s your thing) then shake, shake, shake it. That oh-so-satisfying sound of an icy beverage finding its groove in the shaker means that when they pour, you’re about to sip on perfectly chilled tea.
