Curry Powders are a British Indian invention created to evoke the essence of Indian cuisine. While curry powders are not used in authentic Indian cooking, they are delicious flavor combinations that we love working with in our Teaching Kitchen. Here’s the thing, curry powders aren’t just for curries! Whether it’s Garlic Curry, Vindaloo Curry, Japanese Curry or Madras Curry, we use them as all-purpose seasonings for so many dishes. Read on for delicious “curried” dishes that aren’t a curry!

Braised Curried Chickpeas with Feta

These chickpeas are braised in olive oil – confit, if you will – along with our Garlic Curry. The result is a rich, indulgent sauce that’s just begging for a side of warm flatbread. You can also load these chickpeas up on a thick slice of French bread. Don’t forget a big glug of the sauce and a sprinkling of feta cheese.

Curried Tomato Bisque

Soup and grilled cheese go together like, well, like soup and grilled cheese!  Take your soup and sandwich lunch to new heights with this curried version that leaves you with a vibrant bowlful of warm, comforting goodness. Pair it with our Slab Grilled Cheese, and you’ve not only got soup and sandwiches – you’ve got a gourmet meal!

Cashew Coconut Meatballs with Curried Tomato Sauce

Intensely flavorful with amazing texture, these meatballs are all about layering flavors. Harissa Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Madras Curry season the meat and sauce. Roasted cashews and coconut bring in beautiful rich, roasted flavors. This recipe is a multi-step process, but it all happens in the same skillet with no need to clean between. Brilliant!

Air Fryer Curried Chicken Wings

We love the air fryer for getting us to crispy delicious chicken wings with no fuss. Smoked Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Vindaloo Curry create the perfect spicy, smoky wing. Top with sesame seeds, a drizzle of honey and a spritz of lime. Sweet, smoky, spicy, crispy and delicious!

Jollof Rice with Curried Chicken Thighs

Possibly one of the most beautiful dishes we’ve tested. In a world that wants “quick and easy,” this one may not fit the bill. Is it worth it? 100%. The Jollof Rice with its pleasantly scorched, crunchy bottom is a great base for this curry-spiced chicken and quick-sauteed greens. Gorgeous to look at, delicious to eat – we just love everything about this dish.
