minutesSweet apples pair up with our Apple Pie Spice in this simple and delicious breakfast, brunch dish or dessert. We love the convenience of refrigerated puff pastry. Add in the cream cheese – oh my!
Ingredients
2 sheets frozen puff pastry
1/2 cup apple pie filling
8 oz pkg cream cheese, softened
5 Tbl granulated sugar
1 Tbl Brown Sugar
1.5 tsp Apple Pie Spice
1/2 tsp Fleur de Sel
1 beaten egg for brushing the pastry
Instructions
- Makes 2 tarts.
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sugars, Apple Pie Spice, Vanilla Extract and Fleur De Sel.
- Thaw pastry sheets at room temperature until they can be easily unfolded. Unfold on a work surface and use a rolling pin to press into an even thickness.
- Divide the cream cheese mixture between the two pastry rectangles. Spread over half of the rectangle, leaving 1 inch on the edges. The pastry should be half covered with cream cheese. You will fold the other half over the cream cheese side.
- Fold the pastry over the cream cheese mixture, and press edges of pastry sheet together to seal. Cut 3 slits on top of each tart.
- Place on a parchment-lined sheet pan, spaced apart, and brush with egg. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden. Remove from baking sheet and cool on wire racks.
- Note: You can also make mini triangular tarts, or try your hand at braiding the pastry. Puff pastry is very forgiving and fun to work with!
