Ingredients

4 lbs beef or chicken bones
1 onion, halved
1 carrot, cut in three chunks
1 head garlic, halved
2 bay leaves
1 bunch parsley stems
1 Tbl apple cider vinegar
2 tsp Himalayan salt
1 oz What's Pho Dinner Blend
Cheesecloth
Butcher's Twine

Bone broth is a protein -rich and healthy beverage or base for soups, stews and curries. Bone broth is shown to improve gut health, boost the immune system and reduce inflammation. Bone broth is also a great source of collagen which helps maintain skin, hair and nails. This sipping soup may be trending, but this was likely something your grandmother or great grandmother put into practice often. Nutritious, delicious and healing – make some bone broth!

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 400°F. Place the bones in a large stockpot and cover with cold water. Bring up to a boil and boil bones for 20 minutes. Skim any residue from the surface during the cooking process. Strain the bones and discard the water.
2.Move the bones to a sheet pan. Roast the bones for 30 minutes or until they are dark golden brown.
3.Place the browned bones back into the stock pot and cover with cold water. Add in the onion, garlic and bay leaves. Tie the What’s Pho Dinner Blend and parsley stems in a pouch with cheesecloth and butcher's twine.
4.Bring up to a boil and reduce to a simmer. Simmer for at least 4 hours or up to 8 hours. Keep skimming any foam that develops on the surface. Add water as necessary to keep the bones submerged.
5.At the end of the cooking process, remove the bones. Strain the broth. Wipe out the pot and return the broth to the pot. Add ice to double the volume. Once cool, portion the broth and refrigerate or freeze. Consume refrigerated broth within 7 days. Use the frozen broth within 8 months.
