Ingredients
- For the Chicken:
6 bone-in, skin on chicken thighs
Pure Avocado Oil
- For the Glaze:
1/4 cup water
3 Tbsp honey
2 tsp Ginger Garlic Sesame Oil
2 Tbsp soy sauce
1 Tbsp hoisin
1 tsp Chinese Five Spice Blend
1 tsp grated fresh ginger
2 cloves garlic, grated
sliced scallion, for garnish
Toasted Sesame Seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- Season the chicken thighs on both sides with salt and Chinese Five Spice. If time allows, do this early in the day and hold in the fridge. When you’re ready to cook, remove the chicken from the fridge 30 mins prior to cooking to take off the chill.
- Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Drizzle in Pure Avocado Oil to coat the bottom. Sear the chicken, skin side down, until golden brown – about 8 minutes. Turn and lower the heat. Cook the chicken until cooked through and an instant-read thermometer registers 165°F – about another 15 minutes.
- Whisk the sauce ingredients together and add to the pan. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes. Tilt the pan and baste the chicken with the sauce. Garnish with scallions and sesame seeds. Serve with steamed rice.
