Subtly-sweet cookies with a not-so-subtle Halloween vibe. Creepy Witches Finger Cookies are all about adding spooky whimsy to your  Halloween party spread. Eerie and lifelike, complete with almond “nails,” you might hesitate in taking a bite, but trust us, once you do, they’re such a treat. No tricks. Our Almond Extract makes for the perfect flavor for these buttery fingers of deliciousness.

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 2 tsp [Pure Almond Extract]

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 Tbl [Traditional Matcha Powder]

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1 tsp [Baker’s Salt]

  • 3/4 cup sliced almonds

  • Red decorating gel

Instructions

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat together the butter and powdered sugar until smooth, light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and extract.
  • In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, Matcha Powder, baking powder and salt. With the stand mixer on low, add in the flour mixture and mix until any dry bits of flour are incorporated.
  • Turn the dough onto the counter and form into a ball. Roll into 28 tablespoon-sized balls and place on a sheet pan. Refrigerate the dough balls for 30 minutes.
  • Roll the dough balls into finger shapes. Press almond firmly into one end for the nail – but remove the almond. You’re looking to create an indentation that will bake into the cookie. You’ll attach the almond “fingernails” once the cookies are baked and cooled.
  • Squeeze in the fingers in the center to create a knuckle shape. Use a paring knife to make cuts to form the creases of the knuckle.
  • Place on parchment-lined sheet pans for 18 minutes or until pale golden. Cool completely on the sheet pan.
  • Use red decorating gel to adhere the almonds to the indentation at the end of the fingers. Creepy!
