Dot cakes have taken over the algorithm, and we’re not mad about that! A quick internet search will reveal loads of ideas for creating these single-serve delights with boxed cake mix and carton frosting. We upped the satisfaction by bringing in our favorite Very Vanilla Cake with Vanilla Bean Buttercream. They take a sprinkle dip and the result is so very satisfying – both to look at and to eat!

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Place rainbow non pareil sprinkles in a plate. Set aside. Prepare the Very Vanilla Cake in a parchment-lined half sheet pan versus two round layers or a 9X13. Reduce the bake time by 10 minutes. Prepare the Vanilla Bean Buttercream and place in a piping bag – you don’t need a tip for the piping bag. Simply cut a hole for dispensing.
  • Use the jar to cut rounds of cooled cake. Place the cake round in the bottom of the jar. Pipe a layer of frosting, then place a second round on top.
  • Pipe frosting to come to the top of the jar. Use an offset spatula to smooth the frosting so that it is flat and level with the top of the jar.
  • Turn the jar upside down and dip the frosted top of the jar in the sprinkles. Repeat with the remaining jars.
