For the pastry bundles:
1 package refrigerated puff pastry
1 bunch asparagus, trimmed
8 oz brie, sliced | |
Basil Extra Virgin Olive Oil
French Herb Salt | |
For the Honey Drizzle: | |
1/4 cup Smoked Honey | |
2 Tbl unsalted butter | |
1/4 tsp sea salt |
1. | Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper. |
2. | Place the asparagus in a large, microwave-safe bowl or dish and add 1/4 cup water. Cover tightly with plastic wrap. Microwave for 3 minutes. This process helps to pre-steam the asparagus prior to the baking process. Remove from the dish and pat dry. Toss with a drizzle of Basil Extra Virgin Olive Oil and French Herb Salt. |
3. | Roll the pastry sheets out on a floured surface. Use a rolling pin to flatten a bit into a large 10X11 rectangle. Cut into 6 rectangles. |
4. | Place a slice of brie on each square. Add a handful of asparagus. Take 2 corners of the pastry and wrap up and over the asparagus to enclose, pinching firmly. Repeat with remaining pastry and asparagus. |
5. | Brush each pastry with egg wash. Transfer to the oven and bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. |
6. | While the pastries are baking, create the honey glaze. Add the Hot Honey, butter and salt to a saucepan. Simmer to melt the butter and thicken slightly. |
7. | Drizzle the butter-honey mixture over the pastries or offer on the side in a bowl with a spoon. |
