Ingredients
4 cups frozen pitted cherries
6 Tbsp unsalted butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp Baker’s Salt
1 cup whole milk
1 tsp Pure Almond Extract
1/2 tsp Pure Orange Extract
Vanilla Bean Sugar, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Place the butter in a deep-dish pie dish or 9-inch cake pan or a 10-inch cast iron skillet. Melt it in the oven as it preheats.
- In a large bowl, whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together. Add the milk and extracts and whisk until batter is smooth.
- Remove the pan from the oven, and spread the cherries over the melted butter in an even layer. Pour the batter evenly over the top of the cherries. Sprinkle the top with Vanilla Bean Sugar.
- Bake for 55–60 minutes. Halfway through baking, you may find that the top of the cobbler is browning too quickly. If so, loosely cover it with aluminum foil. The cobbler is done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs.
- Cool for about 10 minutes (if you can wait) and serve warm with ice cream.
