SMOKY COCKTAIL ICE CUBES
Servings
Makes 8 large ice cubes
Total time

minutesWe love watching mixologists infuse glasses with fancy tools to infuse a little smoke into cocktails. Here’s a similar method that requires no extra equipment! Steep up Lapsang Souchong, a smoky Chinese black tea, and freeze into ice cubes. Pop a few into an Old Fashioned or create your own Rum & Smoke. No fancy tools, but one very cool trick!
Ingredients
2 Tbl Lapsang Souchong Tea
2 cups water
Instructions
- Boil 2 cups water. Remove from heat and add the Lapsang Souchong tea. Steep for 10 mins. This is a much longer than usual steep time; however, since the liquid will be used to make ice cubes, a concentrated tea is necessary. Remember that the ice will melt slowly in the spirit and intense flavor is needed in order to infuse the drink.
- Strain off the leaves and pour the tea into ice cube trays. Freeze for at least 3 hours. If not using immediately, pop out of the ice cube trays and store in a zip top bag.
