WHAT IS POULTRY SEASONING?

Poultry Seasoning is a spice blend that often gets lumped into the single spice pantry staple category. That’s because Poultry Seasoning was one of the very first spice blends that achieved widespread popularity. In the “modern” kitchen of the 1950’s and 1960’s, poultry seasoning would have been found in spice racks alongside salt, pepper, paprika and cumin. We start to see an uptick in requests for Poultry Seasoning in the fall. Customers come in with their grandmother’s turkey or stuffing recipe which call for “poultry seasoning.”

Poultry Seasoning is an herb-forward blend with notes of thyme, sage, allspice, coriander and pepper. Our Poultry Seasoning is salt-free, so it’s a great low sodium choice for adding oomph to salted spice blends. What was once an all-in-one way to season the holiday bird, we like to use Poultry Seasoning as a base flavor to build upon. Rub Poultry Seasoning on all sides of a turkey or chicken – be sure to tuck some under the skin. Then season with our Gobble Gobble Blend, Rosemary Chicken Blend or Autumn Spice Blend. Be sure to grab a bottle of Shallot Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Caramelized Onion Avocado Oil and get to roasting!
